Objectives:

The visit aimed to provide students with an understanding of advanced semiconductor fabrication and research in chip and wafer designing processes at the Solid-State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), a premier DRDO facility under the Ministry of Defense.

Highlights:

  • Indsutrial Visit Completed for 48 B. Tech. students of IITM College of Engineering.

  • Interaction with Experts: The delegation was guided by Dr. R.A. Chouksey, Senior Scientist, DRDO SSPL. He provided insightful knowledge about semiconductor technology, chip manufacturing, and ongoing research at the facility.

  • Wafer and Chip Design Process: Students were given an overview of chip fabrication techniques, emphasizing the importance of microelectronics in defense applications.

  • Visit to the Carbonized Silicon Wafer Development Lab: The team had the privilege of visiting India's only Carbonized Silicon Wafer Development Lab, a cutting-edge facility dedicated to semiconductor research.

  • Internship Opportunity: Dr. R.A. Chouksey encouraged interested Computer Science Engineering (CSE) students to explore internship opportunities at SSPL in the near future.

The BCA 5th semester students undertook an industrial visit to Mother Dairy, Patparganj, which proved to be an enriching and informative experience. The visit was meticulously organized, providing students with valuable exposure to industrial operations and processes. Mother Dairy arranged an engaging presentation that highlighted the company’s history, production methods, and technological advancements in dairy processing. The session gave students deeper insights into supply chain management, quality control, and modern automation techniques.

Following the presentation, students were given a guided tour of the factory premises. They observed various machines, equipment, and storage facilities used in milk processing and packaging. The supervisors patiently explained each stage, from raw milk collection to processing, testing, and distribution. Students also gained awareness about hygiene standards, safety protocols, and sustainable practices adopted by the company.

Overall, the visit enhanced students’ understanding of industrial practices and offered a firsthand experience of large-scale operations. It served as an effective bridge between theory and practice, leaving the participants motivated and better informed. The industrial visit to Dabur India Ltd., one of the largest and oldest ayurvedic and natural healthcare companies, provided valuable insights into the working of a leading FMCG organization. Dabur is widely recognized for its products in healthcare, personal care, and food segments, including Dabur Chyawanprash, Hajmola, Dabur Honey, and a wide range of herbal medicines.
During the visit, students were taken through various stages of production, starting from raw material procurement to formulation, processing, quality testing, and packaging. The company emphasized its strong reliance on natural ingredients and traditional ayurvedic formulations combined with modern scientific techniques.
Experts at Dabur explained the importance of research and development in innovating new products to meet changing consumer preferences. Students also learned about the large-scale supply chain management that helps Dabur distribute its products across India and globally.

Objective :

  • The objective of the visit was to provide exposure to young minds to the ongoing scientific and technological work carried out in NPL.

 

Aim of the visit

The main aim of the Laboratory is to strengthen and advance physics-based research and development for the overall development of science and technology in the country. In particular, its objectives are:

  1. To establish, maintain and improve continuously by research, for the benefit of the nation, the National Standards of Measurements and to realize the Units, based on the International System.

  2. To identify and conduct, after due consideration, research in areas of physics which are most appropriate to the needs of the nation and for advancement of the field.

  3. To assist industries, national and other agencies in their development tasks by precision measurements, calibration, development of devices, processes and other allied problems related to physics.

Outcome of the Event
